It’s been four years since I started the Garrulous Grimoire, and even though I can still see the starting point, I am moving steadily away from it.
So as I sit here with my cup of tea and the last Ashes test on the television, I realise it’s the perfect time to think about why I started the blog in the first place. It’s about the writing. It always has been. I also realise I haven’t been putting much here as study and work (and let’s be honest, games) take up a lot of my time.
But exciting things are in the works.
I recently put my hat in the ring for an internship at Spineless Wonders, a small publishing company that focuses on micro literature produced by Australian writers. I’m excited at this next chapter in my life because I hope to learn more about the inner workings of editing and publishing. I would also be keen to eventually submit some writing there, and the focus on micro-lit I feel will be reasonably challenging.
There isn’t much longer left to go in my degree and I’ll be finished around February. That is pretty exciting to be honest because I’ll have more time to focus on my own projects, and will probably be chasing up work opportunities.
I’m still looking forward to Metallica in October. It is right around the end of the semester, so I’ll have submitted all my assessments and be free to enjoy the whole weekend. I’ve liked their music for about fifteen years now and they were the gateway to other similar bands.
But anyway, happy birthday blog!
