I sometimes have difficulty starting a new book once I’ve finished the previous one. Having recently finished Abbadon’s Gate by James S. A. Corey, I find myself at the crossroads.
Excuses For Not Writing #1
I attended university today.
Hurry Up and Start Already
Time is inching closer to the start of the school year and rather than feeling nervous, I’m excited and impatient. I want to dive straight in and begin soaking up all of the juicy knowledge on offer, but I will have to wait until the middle of March. So until then I have a little bit of free time which I will spend working, playing games, and writing .
New Site Look
I have not touched the design of the website since I first started it, so I thought I would flex my rusty web design and development muscles to shake things up a little bit.
The Next Great Adventure
This year is going to be a good one for me, I can already tell. My university application went through and I’ll be studying a Bachelor of Communications (Creative Writing) at the University of Technology Sydney.
Happy New Everything
Christmas was kind to me this time around. I had a few days off to properly enjoy it, spending time with the family and getting a few choice presents. I also got to enjoy New Years Eve with friends instead of working.
With all the excitement going on, I forgot to make a resolution for this year. Oh well, I probably wouldn’t have kept it anyway, so no loss.
Sleep, Stress and Skyrim
I really should be sleeping, but it seems that my body is hard wired for night owl mode. Perhaps it is because I work (too many) nights. Perhaps it is too much tea and coffee. Or perhaps it is simply my mind being overcrowded with thoughts.
Happy Birthday To Me!
Another lap around the solar system qualifies me for my 28th birthday! Hooray for me!
Glimpsing the Future
I attended a presentation by Professor A. C. Grayling at the Sydney Opera House entitled ‘Closing the Modern Mind’. It was but one of the many talks at the Festival of Dangerous Ideas this last weekend and in case you missed it, I feel that I am doing you a favour by linking to it here.
The Thoughts of Midnight
I went to bed a little early tonight, if 10:30 PM can be considered early, and found myself tossing and turning. I did a little reading before bed. ‘The God Delusion’ by Richard Dawkins is quite a heavy read. I even tried counting Magic cards instead of sheep in a vain effort to tempt a visit from the Sandman.
No dice.
I couldn’t get to sleep because my mind is buzzing.
And I have to be up for work in about six hours.
Fuck.
